    Duck Duck Go and Tor versus Google Chrome and Yahoo


    I try to clear the cookies, search engines and the search history from my laptop every week, sometimes every two weeks.


    Generally, I use Google Chrome as my browser and Yahoo as my search engine.
    I have an email address with yahoo and I like their start page with the current news.

    But I don't like getting tracked and spammed.

    If I use Duck Duck Go or Tor, would this help?

    Should I download Tor and use DDG or are they basically doing the same thing ?

    Volume ducking does not work on Windows 10

    This problem is seen across different products including Microsoft's Skype.

    Setup:

    • Windows 10 machine with latest updates installed
    • Plantronics 350 USB headset (default comm. device)
    • Realtek onboard audio (default device)
    • Volume ducking (80% attenuation) enabled
    • Using latest Skype version
    • Using latest Audacity version
    • Using latest RealTek drivers
    Reproduction steps:


    • Using audacity or any other media player, start playing an audio clip to the default device (onboard speaker)

    • Using Skype or any other communication application, establish a (VoIP) call with a remote endpoint using the default communication device (USB headset with mic and spk)

    • Unexpected Error: Volume of audio being rendered to default device is not lowered.

    Sound Ducking Issues in Windows 10

    This seemed to be an application-specific problem as Skype Desktop works fine with Ducking support. Ventrilo in this case is working on a fix.

    .. so the one suggested by aspergerguy is also a paid one.. though much cheaper than the one you referred to.. I do not think any such FREE application..
