Windows 10: Windows Live password change not allowing windows 10 login

Hello, I am reaching out to you due to an issue with a family friend's computer. They had allowed somebody access to their computer and they had changed the password upon time of being remoted in. They had changed the account password. Well due to this the friends were unable to login. Because of this I was forced to change the windows live password externally. Now I am in a situation of attempting to login however, it will not allow it due to the device not connecting to any network for it to register the new password change.


I am now curious as to how I can force the device to update the account locally on the device. Am I needing to do a backup and restore? or will I be able to enable the network connection to allow login?


Also to add with the backup/restore, the backup files should register with the windows live account, correct?

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Forgot Windows 10 password...

If it's a Microsoft account, you should be able to change the password via another computer at live.com and the password should also change to match on the computer (obviously make sure it has internet access first). The password is verified online during login.
