Windows 10: All my files are shadowed

I found that all my files are shadowed except for the recycle bin. It started when I tried to download the game file. I went to appdata to find a place, then I started to edit this file but changed my mind and started to work with the other file. However when I looked at the games files - all were shadowed.

Why are OST files not to be shadowed


I don't want to delete the ost file. I want to delete the key in the registry which lists the ost file as one not to be shadowed.

• Were you able to get this shadows just after upgrade to Windows 10? If yes, were there any significant software or hardware changes made after that?

Method 1:

If you have not tried the following steps you may check if it helps.

• • Open Control Panel and click System and security.
  
  • Click on system.
  
  • Click on Advanced system settings.
  
  • Go to Advanced Tab.
  
  • Select performance.
  
  • Click settings.
  
  • Check “Show shadows under windows” and click OK.

Method 2:

If the above method does not help, I would suggest you to try different background themes and check if it helps.

Removing errant files in the "System Volume Information" folder under Windows 10.

I suggest you to first stop Volume Shadow Copy service and try to remove the files and check. Follow the steps provided below:

Step 1: Stop Volume Shadow Copy service

• 
  Press Windows logo Key + R key.
  
• 
  Type services.msc.
  
• 
  Search for Volume Shadow Copy service.
  
• 
  Right click on it and select
  Stop.
  

Now, take ownership of the System volume Information folder and then try to delete its contents.

Step 2: File permissions.

• Right click on System volume Information folder.
• Select Properties.
• Go to Security tab.
• Select the user name.
• Click on Edit button.
• Under permission to Authenticated user, check on full control.
• Click on Apply and OK button.
