  1. Bitdefender Threw Up A Ridiculous Infected File Warning

At least I think it was ridiculous. I was on Windows Central and wanted to create a double click system restore point using a shortcut (scroll down) on the page:

    https://www.windowscentral.com/how-c...e-double-click

and Bitdefender came at me and said:

The file C:\Users\e480ceo\Desktop\Create Restore Point.lnk is infected with Gen:Heur.BZC.YAX.Cross.6.0AD362E0 and was moved to quarantine. It is recommended that you run a System Scan to make sure your system is clean

Bitdefender support answered my question with a ready made answer akin to "reinstall windows" though not as drastic.

I believe the warning was a false positive. What do you all think? TIA.

    :)

    BitDefender missing

    Hi,

Thank you for being a part of Windows 10.

As an initial troubleshooting step, I would suggest you to search for BitDefender in the search next to start. If you are not able to find and if you have BitDefender CD/DVD, then I would suggest you to re-install BitDefender.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other issues with Windows in future.

    steps taken for infected Pc's.

I was hoping someone could give me a list of step by step instructions you use as a guide to clean virus, malware...etc. so I can keep my PC clean if it gets infected.

    thx

Error message - BitDefender Threat Scanner

Hi again. It was WinPatrol Plus that I was suggesting although there is a (limited use) Hidden Files tab in WinPatrol free.

I suggest that your next step is to contact Bitdefender per my very first post above. Cheers

warning about "Bitdefender" upon reboot, but it's not even installed!!: Every time I reboot my machine, I get some message about a Bitdefender log file in C:\windows\temp. First of all, I don't recall ever installing Bitdefender, and two, I can't find any mention of it in any file, app, or setting. Should I be worried about this? Thanks! 16158
