Windows 10: MY NEW COMPUTER WITH WINDOWS 10 WILL NOT RECOGNIZE MY OFFICE PRODUCT KEY THAT I USED ON MY...

HOW DO I GET THE NEW COMPUTER TO RECOGINIZE THE PRODUCT KEY I HAVE IN OFFICE.


IS THERE A CONTACT AT MICROSOFT OFFICE TO CHECK TO BE SURE THE PRODUCT KEY IS STILL GOOD.


IT WAS LAST USED ON MY OTHER COMPUTER ALSO USING WINDOWS 10.


WHEN I HIT THE WORD ICON ON THE NEW COMPUTER IT SAYS TO ENTER PROD. KEY.

I DO IT AND THEN A MSG SAYS ''SORRY THIS IS NOT A MS OFFICE PROD. KEY ...YOU MAY BE ENTERING A PROD. KEY FROM ANOTHER VERSION OF OFFICE.''

Product key not recognized

I want to thank everyone for taking the time to respond to my query. I have to say some of the suggestions assume a tech capability beyond me.

I think I will find the original receipt, go back to the shop, and ask them for the Product Key, then try again. I suspect it was an unauthorized copy. Maybe that will work.

No, you will not need a new version of Microsoft Office and you will not need a new product key.

Which versions of Microsoft Office work on Windows 10?

The following versions of Microsoft Office with the latest Service Packs have been confirmed to be compatible with Windows 10:

• Office 2016 Preview
• Office 2013/Office 365
• Office 2010
• Office 2007

Older versions of Office such as Office 2003 and Office XP are not certified compatible with Windows 10 but might work using compatibility mode.
