  1. Windows move to 3rd monitor after PC wakes from sleep

    Hi,

I've got 3 monitors connected to my PC. 2 are normal monitors and the 3rd is a TV that sits above my desk visible to the rest of the office. In my display setting they are set up as follows:

Displays 2 & 1 are the displays I use for work applications. Display 3 is intended to display useful information to the rest of the team but since the monitor sits high above my desk it's not meant to be a workspace. The problem I'm having is that whenever I lock my PC or let it go to sleep and then return to continue working, windows that I have left open on displays 1 or 2 often move to screen 3 and I need to drag them all back to the display I want them on. When I'm opening new programs they also often open on display 3 as well as notifications or pop-up windows from applications that are in use.

    :)

  2. Troubleshooting PCs spontaneously waking from sleep

I've also battled with sleep/wake issues over the years, and from experience have learned that trying to find, or rationalise, the root cause is a waste of time. All you need is `powercfg`.

`powercfg -devicequery wake_armed` from an Administrator PowerShell window/Command Prompt will give you a list of all devices that can possibly wake the PC. This command is interesting because very often, it will show devices that you'd never expect being able to wake your computer. I think in one instance I had the chipset device listed!

`powercfg -devicedisablewake "device_name_from_device_query"`will prevent said device from ever waking the computer. This command is 100% the only thing I have found that will resolve sleep/wake problems. Updating drivers, unplugging peripherals, switching to a cleaner power supply (UPS), changing ethernet cables... none of those have helped, yet`powercfg -devicedisablewake` has done the trick.

Note that occasionally, devices you have disabled wake for may start waking up the PC again - this happens if you plug a USB device into a different port, or occasionally when drivers are updated, because Windows sees it as a new device. In that case rerun `powercfg` to find and disable that device again.

If this does not resolve your wake issues, I would start looking at power fluctuations.

Windows 10 Power Sleep: PC waking up during the day/night and not going back to sleep

Windows 10 Power Sleep: PC waking up during the day/night and not going back to sleep:

My HP Pavilion Desktop will go to sleep after I am finished as normal (whether walking away, signed out, switched user but not logged in to other user) after a while the pc will wake up and the monitor will turn on and stay on. Sometimes the monitor will
go back to sleep but pc remains on. I have not been able to resolve this issue and has been occurring over months. PC will wake during the night and monitor will stay on and neither will go back to sleep. Have reset power settings to default monitor sleeps
at 10 min, pc sleeps after 20 minutes. I know there are settings and software that can wake up a pc but I have not been able to find the list in Windows 10.

My pc is a 2018 HP Pavilion Desktop Windows 10 updated 64but AMD12 PC-570-p0xx and fully updated as of Sept 25th 2018.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
