Windows 10: Windows 10 Backup using windows 7 backup and restore option issue

I have 1 TB hard disk on my pc i decided to use windows 7 backup and restore option to backup things incase anything happens to be able to recover my data so i went to disk managment and partition my harddrive into 2 parts : Local Disk D 900GB and Recovery E 100GB went to backup option and use Recovery E to back up my device now here is what happens there is no issue with recovery on the recovery E partition however the Local Disk D space has decreased with the same amount of space used by the Recovery E partition after trying figure out where space was going i found out that it was system volume information folder on Local Disk D , i do not have system protection on for that drive so why is the backup taking space on both the recovery Partition that i created and Local Disk D which has nothing to do with the backup i did not choose Local Disk D for anything.

Haven't used it but sounds like it based on Backup and Restore Center info found here. Says you can choose what files and folders if you want and also mentions a system image. Quicken has it's own backup option under one of the menus, use that too. I have for my mom and it's a breeze. Just reinstall app and use Restore in Quicken.

 

Reliable backup software for Windows 7?

Here's one good reason why not: no verify option for the backup. Imagine your surprise when you try to restore your data, only to find that it's corrupted. *Cry :cry:

  How exactly are you trying to perform back up? Is it from the Backup and Restore (Windows 7) or File History?

  Which drive have you selected to back up? Is it an external drive or a network drive or a local drive of the system?

  When you say 'only allows me to do another backup with the same options', which options are you referring to?
  
• 
  Are you unable to select a different drive for a backup from the backup destination list?
  

If you are using a Backup and Restore (Windows 7) option then, I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

  Type backup and restore in the search bar and press enter.

  Click on setup backup option.

  Click on refresh button to check if the drives are visible in the
  backup destination list.

  Choose the drive which you want to back up and click on
  next.
  

If you are trying to use file history I suggest you to un-plug it and restart your computer. Re-plug the external drive and check if the file history options are available.
