Windows 10: Scrolling stops working on Chrome

I've been having an issue on my Surface Book 2 where after a while in Chrome, 2 finger scrolling through the touchpad on a webpage just stops working and in order to get it to work again, I need to switch to another tab then back.


I was wondering if anyone had any insights as to why this is happening.

Please try methods below and check if it helps.



Method 1: Perform steps below to reduce how many lines to scroll each time.

• Go to Start menu>Settings.
• Click on Devices.
• Click on Mouse & touchpad.
• Reduce Choose how many lines to scroll each time.

Method 2: If issue persists try to un-install and install latest audio driver and check if it helps. To uninstall driver follow below steps.

• Press Windows + X, Click on Device Manager.
• Expand Miceand other pointing devices,
  right click on device and click on
  Uninstall.

Once completed, restart your computer. Your mouse drivers will automatically install. You may also logon to the computer manufacturer website and download the latest
drivers and get it installed.

Scroll stops working in IE11 and Chrome.

after upgrading from windows 7 to 10 when I open internet explorer or google chrome scrolling will start then stop for a short time maybe 10 sec . I adjusted mouse setting ,and I have a lot disk space. does anyone else have the same problem or does anyone
know how to fix thanks

How to prevent touchpad scrolling from carrying over to different tabs on Windows/Chrome?

The problem is that this "inertial scrolling" isn't done by Chrome, but instead by your touchpad driver. That is, the driver emulates inertial scrolling by continuing to send fake "mouse scroll" events after you release the touchpad. Programs like Chrome cannot distinguish these scroll events from "real" ones.

(Perhaps Windows 10 "Precision Touchpad" mode is supposed to fix this? Though still it would only help with modern touchpad-aware programs.)

I would suggest disabling inertial scrolling globally in your touchpad's settings.

There is no option to disable Ctrl+scroll zooming in Chrome, but see older threads – some of them describe how to set up AutoHotKey to block Ctrl+scroll events system-wide:
