Bluetooth HID device cannot pair to Win10 after Windows Update KB4487017 (OS Build 17134.590)

We are developing a hardware HID tablet which has Bluetooth. The device works good in win10 before updating to KB4487017. It can pair/reconnect to Win10, and operate corrrectly. But after updating, it cannot pair to win10 any more. Same device can pair to Mac, Fedora, and other Windows version. So it must be some change in this windows update. We have looked through the update page:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4487017

nothing is found. We cannot even see any change in Bluetooth or HID.

Some trial in our side shows it is related with the HID report descriptor. If we delete a certain part in descriptor, the tablet can pair to Win10 again. However, the key is: we don't know the rule of win10 descriptor parsing, and we don't know which place in our descriptor has broken the rule. We did have quite a few trial, but still didn't get the rule. So is it possible you check that rule change in your side and let us know your change part? If you need our sample descriptor, it's OK to write to me. we can provide binary file.

    :)

  2. Bluetooth Devices will not Pair

    Hi,

Hopefully this is the correct Forum !

I have a Microsoft Mouse 5000 and Wedge keyboard (the early one that does not fold).
    Both have been working perfectly.

Recently I paired them both successfully with a new Samsung tablet, but when I came to use them again on my laptop,
I found that I could not pair either of them.

I have spent countless hours researching this without success.

    Here's where I am now:

Settings > Bluetooth & other devices does not list either of them.
Device Manager > Bluetooth has both of them showing and reports both working properly.

    Device Manager reports as follows:

    Notebook Mouse 5000:
No driver files are required or have been loaded
The Events tab says that further installation is required

    Wedge Mobile Keyboard:
No driver files are required or have been loaded
The Events tab says that further installation is required

The 2 Service Discovery Service entries also report that further installation is required.

Can anyone suggest the way forward, please ?

    Regards.

Can't connect or pair any bluetooth devices

    • Version 1703, OS Build 15063.483
    • I cannot pair any device with my computer
    • Yes, it shows as "Intel Wireless Bluetooth" as well as "Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator" and "Microsoft Bluetooth LE Enumerator". Disabling the two Microsoft enumerators doesn't help.

Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

    When in win10:
    • Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....
Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
    - Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.
