Windows 10: Computer says there's no ethernet when I have ethernet plugged in

I've been looking everywhere for a solution to this. I'm at college right now and I cannot deal with their wifi. I've always used ethernet here with no problems. So when I came back from spring break and turned on my desktop, it had no internet. I thought it was the cable, so I bought a new one. Didn't help. So, I had the school's tech support help me and we figured out it was my computer causing the problem.


When I did look this up, people were saying to turn off your computer, unplug it and wait half an hour. I did that and still nothing. I also uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for the port twice, enabled them and disabled them. Right now I'm currently letting my computer sit with nothing plugged in and might let it set overnight. I'm really really hoping it isn't the hardware inside because I dont know if I can replace it right now. And wifi is out of the question because my school's wifi is absolutely awful. Any other suggestions for me would really help.

Plug in ethernet and wireless internet dies....?

That's the only way to do it. Unplug the ethernet cable, turn sharing on for your wireless connection (not the ethernet one). Then you should plug the ethernet cable into your router's internet port and the other end into your laptop, then plug in your computer. The only reason that would not work is a bad setting somewhere. Try that and get back to me. What is the error that comes up? Something about 192.168.0.1 already being on the network?

• Did you try to change the Ethernet and check if the network is connecting?
• Is the Ethernet working in other computers?
• Are there any changes made on your computer prior to the issue?
• What troubleshooting steps you've done so far?

Windows 10 after upgade to 1709 if keyboard not plugged then ethernet device is not detected.

When I start my windows 10 (1709 build) without plugging keyboard and mouse, it does not detect Ethernet card.

Mother board is of Intel and Ethernet is on board (integrated).

I have also installed latest Ethernet driver by auto updated drivers from internet.

Steps:

Shutdown pc

Remove keyboard and mouse

Keep lan cable plugged

Start pc

Ethernet device is not detected. It shows in list in Device manager screen. but with Yellow triangle.

Then I need to plug keyboard and just do a hardware scan then Ethernet is detected and all ok after that.

When I start with keyboard and mouse plugged in then it detects Ethernet card and available on LAN.

Am I missing something?
