Windows 10: Battery Issue

Hi


I have a Surface Pro (5) that is only 1.5 years old.


I have been noticing my battery life getting worse and worse over time. It is nothing compared to what it was when I first got it. Less than half of what is used to last.


But lately something very strange has started happening. When the meter gets to about 28% my system just shuts down. I plug it in and when I can finally turn it on again it says the battery is charging from a value of less than 10%. This has been happening multiple times in a row. I believe this issue started when the 2019-03 cumulative update for W10 1809 for x64 was applied.


I absolutely love my device but the battery drainage and now this is getting under my skin.


My settings are set to set to best battery life, my drivers are up to date.

Laptop battery issue

I'm pretty sure the E1505 has "speed step" on it. Double checkthe speed step settings to make sure they are set for long battery life, maybe it's somehow reset itself?

I did check it out and already had it disabled so enabled and still no battery showing up in the bios. I guess I'll be taking it apart

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
