Discus and support Windows Script Host error code 80070002 on startup. My system can't find some weird file. in Windows 10 Performance & Maintenance to solve the problem; I somehow previously had an error where my PC would boot up to the Command Prompt and not open Explorer.exe.     Windows Script Host error code 80070002 on startup. My system can't find some weird file.


    I somehow previously had an error where my PC would boot up to the Command Prompt and not open Explorer.exe. I can to manually open Explorer in the CMD every time I booted up. I found a fix online where I changed something in the registry to point towards Explorer.exe, which fixed it. I don't know how it was changed, though. Possibly a virus, but all virus/malware scans turned out clean.

    Still, there is a remaining bug. Whenever I start up, Windows Script Host gives me error code 80070002, "The system cannot find the file specified."

    I have no idea what this Startup file is, if it's even necessary or the result of some odd registry changes. What can I do? I already tried verifying system files with the Windows Startup Repair.
