How to get OneDrive running again without Windows reset?

OneDrive does not start: OneDrive icon on taskbar is not showing up.

Q: How to get OneDrive running again, without having to reset / re-install Windows.
    I have tried following:
    1) reset: %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset
    2) manually start: Start > All Programs > OneDrive
    3) uninstalled and re-installed using OneDriveSetup.exe
Regretfully it didn't help: OneDrive was not showing up under Task Manager > StartUp
I could find an updated .etl file under
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneDrive\logs\Personal (TraceCurrent.0121.0011.etl)
and when checking that it showed a 15003 error.
    ERROR_EVT_EVENT_TEMPLATE_NOT_FOUND
    15003 (0x3A9B)
The template for an event definition cannot be found in the resource (error = %1).
    Windows 10 x64 17763.379

    ..later..
I got OneDrive going again by:
    1. setting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\OneDrive: DisableFileSyncNGSC > 0
(In my case it was reading 1)
    and
    2. running gpedit.msc
Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > OneDrive > Prevent the usage of OneDrive for file storage: set this to "Not configured"
(In my case it was reading "Enabled")

After reboot OneDrive configuration showed up and is up and running again.
    No...
there is no question here, but I post this anyhow, so in case other users hit on similar issues, they may give the above a try.

    :)

  2. Windows 10 - OneDrive

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

    Windows 10 - OneDrive

[/quote] Click to expand... Sorry, but I think you're confused and keep referring to Onedrive. There is a big difference between the consumer version of Onedrive business O365 version. I do not have the consumer version of Onedrive installed... it is Onedrive for Business. Also, this script is for "Onedrive" .... not Onedrive for Business. Thanks anyway.

OneDrive (for Business) built-in Windows 10 differences?

No thanks for providing a non-rant version. I ought to recruit about 20 million people and walk down to Microsoft headquarters and do them in. Tired of Microsoft forcing their childish development skills on the masses.

How to get OneDrive running again without Windows reset?

OneDrive keeps crashing in Windows 10

    Hi,

Quick update. This fixed it for me:

I suggest you to try resetting OneDrive and check if it helps you in resolving the issue. To do so refer the steps below:

Be aware that resetting OneDrive re-syncs all your OneDrive files, which could take some time depending on how many files you’re syncing.

    • Press the Windows key + R to open the Run
      Window
      .
    • In the Run Window enter the following:
      %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset
    • Click OK. The OneDrive system tray icon on the desktop should disappear and re-appear after a minute or two.
    • If the OneDrive system tray icon does not re-appear after a few minutes, do the following. In the Run Window Enter: %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe
