Windows 10: Package KB4489886 failed to be changed to the Installed state. Status: 0x800f0922.

My work laptop has been trying to update KB4489886 since the middle of February. It tries to update about 3 times a week and ends up rolling back the changes because they cannot complete. This is very annoying as it takes about 15 minutes to complete this whole process.


From windows event-viewer, it goes through these states:


Initiating changes for package KB4489886. Current state is Staged. Target state is Installed. Client id: WindowsUpdateAgent.

A reboot is necessary before package KB4489886 can be changed to the Installed state.

Package KB4489886 failed to be changed to the Installed state. Status: 0x800f0922.


I've tried manually installing the update along with numerous fixes from people's suggestions on internet forums including the following site: https://windows101tricks.com/windows-update-failed-to-install/


Nothing seems to work. This is a company group policy fed update, however I have full admin rights to my laptop. Of course my companies desktop support is useless and all they did was try and restart the windowsUpdate process.

Windows Updates: Package failed to be changed to the Installed state. Status: 0x800f0922

I am trying to install an number of updates and they keeps failing with:

Package KBXXXXXXX failed to be changed to the Installed state. Status: 0x800f0922

I have tried everything except reinstalling the OS (other updates are installing with out issues)

Any ideas

Package KB3194496 failed to be changed to the Installed state. Status: 0x800f0922.

I have been trying to load this since the 30/09/2016.

I gone through the events logs with following issues.

Setup Log: Package KB3194496 failed to be changed to the Installed state. Status: 0x800f0922.

Application Log: The winlogon notification subscriber <TrustedInstaller> failed a critical notification event.

System Log: The Update Orchestrator Service for Windows Update service terminated with the following error:

The media is write protected.

This really frustrating.

 

Package KB3176934 failed to be changed to the Installed state. Status: 0x800f0922 configuring windows failed, undoing changes

What's wrong with windows updates to windows 10 always there are issues.

the latest one is KB3176934 everytime windows try to install it, then after restart configuring windows reaches 71% then progresses very slowly then at around 98% it restarts and starts undoing the changes.

event viewer shows: Package KB3176934 failed to be changed to the Installed state. Status: 0x800f0922

also why view more help about event is broken? it takes me to microsoft site but ms site doesn't show help just the main support page with url containing the information about the event.

Anyway I'm looking for help to install this. I tried to install it directly by downloading it from windowsupdate site and same issue.

running troubleshooting on windows update finds problems, fixes it then same issue.

It shows: repair windows update database corruption and repair windows update components.

I have deleted the contents of update folder distribution and catroot2 as described on numerous articles and often here.

any suggestion, what is even 0x800f0922? when I search I only find old info about .net framework 3.5
