  1. Is there a Win 10 log that records startup events ?

    Win 10 home

    Version 1809 (OS 17763.437)

For the most part everything works pretty well and mostly does so.

I have always been curious as to IF there was a log of some sort (or a way to generate one) that contained information as various apps, that are defined in the registry startup keys are actually started.

So that it might be interrogated.

    Why ?

    Good question.

I have been having some issues with startups for well, years.

    IE:

If I restart my pc, not everything in the startup keys, always start.

BUT, if I sign out and then back in, ALL startup apps are started.

So generally, if something isn't running or an icon is missing from the system tray, I simply sign out and back in.

For me it's a minor inconvenience.

But, I really WOULD like to make an attempt at understanding what my laptop is doing (during startups) so that I might try to move things if necessary so that all my startup apps well, actual start during startup.

I kinda sorta, do like audit trails.

I've been reading these posting for some years now and I know that there are quite a few very VERY informed people here.

    Certainly better informed than I.

So, I was wondering if anyone might weigh in on my logs questions.

    Thanks in advance.

    :)

    Events 4672 & 4624 Win 10 Freezes - special LOGON ?

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    1. Are you on a domain network?
    2. May I know the make and the model number of your system?

The event logs you have provided seems to be the security logs that is generated when you login to your system. For more information on the event that was generated, you can check
4672(S): Special privileges assigned to new logon.

The Windows error logs will be located at Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System.

Please follow the step below and check if it works for you.

    Step: Improve Windows 10 Performance.

Try some of the following suggestions to help
make your Windows 10 PC run better
. The steps are listed in order, so start with the first one, see if that fixes the problem, and then continue to the next one if it doesn’t.

Note: The last step on the article contains Windows Reset, I suggest you not to perform Windows reset, as there is a change your data and applications will be wiped and also
the OS will reverted back to previous version you upgraded from.

If the issue still persists, please reply to this post with more information so that we can identify the root cause of this issue and assist you further.

    Hope it helps.

Is there a Win 10 log that records startup events ?

Event ID 36871 - Repeating TLS Error 10013

May we know if these errors are causing any problems in the performance of your device? These event logs consists of a description of the event and, sometimes, additional data for the event. There are three types of logs that you would see in the Event Viewer,
these would help you filter out which is causing the problem in your device:

    • System Log - this log records events within the system components, such as drivers or startup components.
    • Application Log - this log records events that are triggered by applications, for example, Internet Explorer.
    • Security Log - this records security events, such as logging in, and events that are related to the use of resources within the device, for example, opening or deleting files or folders. The Security Log helps identify changes within your
      device.
