  1. DiretX error when trying to launch 'old' (mostly 2D) games

    Hi,

I'm currently facing a difficulty of launching some relatively 'old' games. And I'm pretty sure this is a problem with DirectX

The thing happened in around October of 2018 when I'm trying to play the game Assassin's Creed Odyssey and faced the common 'game always crush' issue, and just after that, I noticed that I could not launch some other 'old' games. After that, I installed the NVIDIA GeForce experience and installed the 416.16 version update. The issue with 'old' or 2D games still exists currently with the most common error of DirectX not being detected. But strangely I'm just fine with the newly published games. I will even receive a warning of 'the graphics card may not be configured' when I'm trying to use the slide shown function in Microsoft PowerPoint. I tried to reinstall graphics drivers several times, DirectX for 1 time and the whole windows system for 1 time and it never worked. I'm not sure why these things happen but it must be related to DirectX.

    Current State:

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    System: Windows 10 version 17134.706

DirectX version: DirectX 12 (Checked: Direct3D acceleration Enabled)

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060

    Graphics Driver Version: 419.17

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The new games I'm fine with:

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Risk of Rain 2, Sekiro, Devil May Cry 5, Anthem, Divinity: Original Sin 2......

The old games I could not launch (mostly 2D):

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Witcher 3, League of Legends, Tarraria, Don't Starve, Sheltered......and plenty of 2D games I can't remember

I've looked for solutions in plenty of websites but it never worked. Hope this is the right place to solve this problem. Thank you very much.

    :)
