Windows 10: "Plugged in, Not Charging" Asus PC: Windows 10

Alright, so yesterday I got my brand-new ASUS Notebook in the mail. I turned it on a powered it on. It works great. Until today, when I plugged it in to charge, all it said was: "26% available(plugged in, not charging)". So I shut down my PC for about an hour to see if the problem will be fixed. It wasn't. My model is X42OU. I have seen tutorials about uninstalling batteries or what-not. I am concerned on whether this is even safe to do. They claim Windows will reinstall itself, but is it really trustworthy? Is there another fix? My PC doesn't have a removable battery, by the way.

Asus X540LJ (Plugged in Not Charging)

I have an Asus X540LJ with windows 10.

My battery shows a status of 96% (plugged in, but not charging). Because of the Asus model I am unable to remove the battery pack and reconnect it.

Previous threads have suggested to unplug your computer to allow the battery to drain, in which case it will then catch a charge. But if I unplug the laptop it immediately shuts off as it seems to have 0 charge.

I want to re-install the driver but the only driver I can see that is clearly related to power or battery is a USB charger plus driver.

Can anyone assist with identifying the battery driver or alternative troubleshooting.

My Computer is Plugged in but not Charging

My laptop computer is plugged in but not charging. The power supply will maintain the charge level (%), but not add to it. Removing and reinserting the battery allows the power supply to add to the % charge to 100%.

Steps performed:

• Turning the computer off and restarting it returns the computer to the Plugged in, Not Charging state.
  
• Removing the battery again allows one complete charge, after which the laptop would no longer charge again.
  
• I have used more than one power supply with the same condition.
  

To resolve the issue, I remove the battery, obtain a complete charge, and maintain this charge by always keeping the power supply plugged in.

What is the root of the problem?

 

Plugged In, Not Charging

Sometimes depending on your Windows 10 Build, your battery will not charge to 100%, this extends the life of your battery . . . plug out the laptop, drain the battery for 10 - 15 minutes, plug it back in and see if it starts to charge the battery

If however, your battery is not charging at all in Windows 10, follow these steps to rectify this issue:

• Disconnect Power Supply
• Remove battery
• Connect Power Supply
• Turn on the laptop
• Control Panel - Device Manager
• Under the Batteries category, right-click all instances of Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery , and Uninstall
• Shutdown
• Disconnect Power Supply
• Insert battery
• Connect Power Supply
• Turn on the laptop
