Keyboard in Australia using US International base setting is doing wierd things

    Hi,

This issue is present only after a recent reinstalling of Windows 10 after i upgraded MB and hard drives. i downloaded the most recent version of Windows 10 using the tool they provide. When doing that I opted for UK area when asked however when setting up Windows 10 i choose the keyboard layout as US International which is what i have done 50 times before now and is what Australia uses.

When using inverted commas and apostrophes a strange thing happens in most software, such as typing on Facebook comments, in MS Outlook emails and just about everywhere else.

    • If I type an apostrophe now here now nothing appears. See? >>>>> There is no apostrophe to the left where i typed
    • If I type inverted commas now here now nothing appears. See? >>>>> There is no inverted commas to the left where i typed
    • If I type inverted commas or the apostrophe then add a space or any other keystroke the apostrophe or inverted comma appear.
    • If I type 2x apostrophes now here now they appear but only after the 2nd one. See? >>>>> ''
    • If I type 2x inverted commas now here now they appear but only after the 2nd one. See? >>>>> ""

I have never experienced this keyboard behavior in many many years of using Windows, can someone help me understand if there is a setting i can adjust to make this behave as previous i.e. type a keystroke and it appears....always!

    Thanks in advance!

    :)

US International Keyboard for Windows 10

It defaults based on which keyboard is loaded first in your list. I had the same problem. I deleted the International keyboard which bumped my regular US keyboard to the top. Then added the International keyboard back in and now it defaults to the regular
    keyboard.

  3. US International Keyboard for Windows 10

    Hello,

There is a way to enable the US International Keyboard. You have to go to Settings > Time and Language > Region and Language. Under Languages, if you click English, there should be a button that says "options." If you click on that, it should show you a
list of keyboards in English. If you click "Add a keyboard," a menu should appear with a list of keyboards. "United States - International" should be one of them.

The keyboard works differently from before. If you are using the US International Keyboard for Windows 10, to get é, all you have to do is press ' + e, one after the other, and the character should appear. There is a list of how to get characters on this
    keyboard: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...ates-international-keyboard-layout-in-windows,
under "Creating International Characters." I know it says that Windows 10 is not listed as one of the softwares that run this keyboard, but it works on mine, and I have Windows 10.

    Hope this helps!
