Known issues and additional information about Surface Pro 3

We are listening. Quality is a top priority, and we want to keep you informed about issues impacting customers. The following is a known issue:
Symptom Workaround After you install the Sept 10 update release, you may notice that the Surface Version Information Service driver appears with a warning symbol under Other devices in Device Manager. This issue was resolved as part of the November 7 Update release.

New Surface Pro 3 Firmware Update 38.12.70.0

Today we’ve released an updated driver for Surface Pro 3 devices. This update includes a new driver for Surface Pro Embedded Controller Firmware that improves system stability and performance when you change between power states.

This update is available in ZIP and MSI format from the Surface Pro 3 Drivers and Firmware Page in the Microsoft Download Center. Click Download to download the following files:

Note: On the download page, you will notice that there are multiple MSI and ZIP files for this driver and firmware update. In the name if these files you will note a Windows build number indicating the minimum supported build required to install the drivers and firmware contained within. For example, to install the drivers contained in SurfacePro3_Win10_14393_1701702_0.msi you must have Windows 10 Anniversary Update (Version 1607) or newer installed on your Surface Studio device. You can find a list of the build numbers for each version of Windows 10 in Windows 10 release information. Files that do not contain a build number in their name are applicable to all versions of Windows 10.

We've released a new driver and firmware update for Surface Pro 3 devices running Windows 10 Anniversary Update or above. This update includes drivers for the Surface Smart Cover Backlight, Surface PTP Filter, Surface Fingerprint Sensor Driver, Surface Pro Type Cover Integration, and Surface Type Cover Filter Device.

These updates enable support for the new Surface Pro Type Cover and Surface Pro Signature Type Covers.These updates are available in MSI and ZIP format from the Surface Pro 3 Drivers and Firmware page in the Microsoft Download Center. Click Download to download the following files:
