  1. Activation failure after hardware changes. (cpu mobo ram)

    Hello,

I recently updated my hardware and I am now being asked to activate Windows.

I do not have the product key from when I originally bought windows and the troubleshoot only recognises my MSI mobo (old one) not the Aorus (new one). However, my email address is linked to my Microsoft account, and the new mobo is recognised on the Microsoft website (see below). What I do not understand is, why the troubleshoot doesn't recognise this, if the website does.

Also tried contacting the customer support, whom are asking for a proof of purchase of a new Mobo to activate windows, not sure why this is required to reactivate though? or telling me to spend $40 to buy a new key.

Microsoft account recognises new hardware (left) but dosnt on the troubleshooter

Changed MOBO, RAM and CPU and windows will not activate on my PC , each time I go through troubleshoot and say I recently changed hardware, it just says unable to activate and tells me to buy another copy.

Unable to activate Windows after hardware change

    Hello,

    Thanks for your reply.

You're right, hardware change was significant: changed CPU, motherboard, RAM and hard drive

Can i just run this command on old system with new hardware or I need to recreate old system setup as whole (with old mobo and cpu) to make it work?

    Best regards,

    Bartosz
