Windows 10 Pro 64Bit - VT not enabled but it's in BIOS

    Greetings,

    A. It looks like Windows 10 Pro latest updates broke VT - Virtual Technology in Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.18362.175], running 1903.

    B. Before I go further explaining my issues, this did NOT happened in 1809 version of Windows 10 Pro 64Bit. I have Dell XPS 8930 i7-8700K CPU. When I run the Intel Processor Identification Utility, it tells me two things:

1B. Intel VT is not enabled

2B. VT-x w/ Extended Page Tables not enabled.

    C. But it was enabled in Windows 10 Pro 64Bits 1809? I'm confused!!!!

    D. So, having done some research and trying all options from both VMware Workstation running v15.1, and Virtual Box running v6, nothing is working. I looked at some issues like:

    1D. Core Isolation = Disabled

2D. BIOS VT = Enabled (by default, it's always enabled, at least for this system) - made no changes, BIOS was updated, even before BIOS update, VT did not make any difference.

3D. So much **** all over the net regarding disabling said info above - 1D, plus Group Policy. nothing is making my VMware or VBox run due to errors that Windows 10 Pro 64Bits 1903 saying that VT-x is not enabled.

    E. I do have Sandbox installed, even before Sandbox was installed, on a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro, all updates, made no difference.

    F. I do see that, in Services, there's a Hyper-V running Host Compute Service. I disabled this, made no difference.

    G. I also run, in elevated mode: dism.exe /Online /Disable-Feature:Microsoft-Hyper-V (made no difference).

    H. I also tried to enable Hyper-V in Software & Features, reboot, then disable it, reboot, nothing worked.

    I. Lastly, I followed this link: https://superuser.com/questions/1153470/vt-x-is-not-available-but-is-enabled-in-bios (this did not work for me).

Any ideas? I'm extremely baffled/appalled of Microsoft's latest updates.

    :)

VT-x is not available, but is enabled in BIOS

There are three common culprits for the type of error the user is seeing:

    • VT-x is not enabled in the BIOS
    • The CPU doesn't support VT-x
    • Hyper-V virtualization is enabled in Windows

Since the user already eliminated the first two possible culprits, the next step is to open a command prompt as administrator and run the following command:

Afterwards, reboot the PC and try VirtualBox again.

    Intel VT-x Enable?

I am unable to find anything with Intel Virtual Technology anywhere in the BIOS. I guess the only step is to update my BIOS, but I heard that is very risky. Is there any other way to enable Intel VT-x?

I have access to my graphics settings but I don't know if that will help.
