Windows 10: Apps window loses focus unless I click both mouse buttons on it

I have a Dell Latitude 7490 that is a month old running Windows 10 professional.

In the last week or so my app windows lose focus (I cant select them) unless I click my left & right mouse button on the app window. Then it regains focus so I can use it again. But this isn't a constant thing but happens enough to where it really bugs me.

I've looked around but I can't find anything.

For the first three weeks I had this laptop this never happened and its the same configuration. I am using a wireless Dell mouse with a usb dongle.

I have changed the batteries, have restarted several times.


Has anyone else dealt with or heard about this?

Win10 Windows Lose Focus, Mouse

Intermittently, Win10 windows would lose focus about every 5 seconds. Sometimes this was fixed by restarting. I looked at my mouse driver configuration.

I use a Kensington Mouse-in-a-Box. I think this is only slightly relevant.

I found that two mice were listed under hardware drivers, one active and one disabled.

I uninstalled the disabled entry.

The problem immediately went away.

Windows lose focus

Absolutely! Even when trying to navigate to applications from the Start button, it will lose focus and close. I have to be very quick to open up an app before the Start menu closes.



With only Mobile Center open, I can watch it go "active" / "inactive" / "active" / "inactive", etc. I'm thinking it will have to do with the way windows is polling the device for changes.
