    Four external HDDs - how to prevent them from going to sleep?


    I have four external hard disks and all of them are connected to a laptop via a USB 3.0 hub. However, looking at the Device Manager information, view by container, there are certain differences as may be seen in the images below. I'm trying to manage the power setting on these disks so that they don't power off after an idle time period.

    I can do it for the ones described as "Samsung" and "E 2017" by deselecting the power setting on each one's USB Mass Storage Device entry. The other two don't show a USB Mass Storage Device and therefore I cannot use this solution for them.

    Any ideas why disk "O" and "Old D" are different and where I may find a setting to prevent them from powering off?

    How do i prevent external HDD to go in sleep in windows 10 ?

    I am using windows 10 in my laptop and desktop. I am having a problem with my external HDD.

    Windows automatically disconnects my external HDD after 30-40 minutes. I have tried all but still it disconnects with a sound.

    In windows 7 all same steps worked for me but I don't know why these are not working in windows 10. I have searched on internet and found that so many people have this same problem in windows 10 only.

    Please guys if anyone have any working solution for this problem please tell me it would help me a lot.

    HDD won't go to sleep


    I have recently upgraded from Win 8.1 Pro x64 to Win 10 Pro x64 and I am experiencing a weird problem.
    My HDD setup is as follows:
    Samsung EVO 250GB M2 SSD - OS and apps
    Crucial MX100 512GB SATA SSD - Games
    Seagate ST2000 2TB SATA HDD - Media

    After configuring Windows 10 to sleep the HDD (the seagate) after 5 mins of inactivity I noticed that it never actually does it, the HDD never goes to sleep.
    That HDD only has media on it and no apps so there should be nothing accessing it.

    How can I found out what is preventing the HDD from going to sleep?
