  1. how to disable system task waking up the pc repeatedly?

The laptop is brand new and upgraded to May 2019 latest build.

You can see from title and the attached image that the pc wakes up from standby and it seems related to a system event (usoclient.exe), from task scheduler.

I can't disable them manually as it requires a password assciated to system account, I think, but have no idea what made those tasks, scheduled to run two times a day, but even more annoyingly the pc resumes much more often than that.

Are they related to windows (update), perhaps?

There are no pending updates for sure. Have no idea what to blame for...

  2. how to disable system task waking up the pc repeatedly?

    Hi,

Thank you for your response along with the screenshot.

We looked into this and want to suggest you to disable/uncheck Wake the computer to run this task in Hidden administrator account.

Steps to enable hidden administrator account on your PC.

    1. Click on start menu and type CMD, right click and select Run as administrator.
    2. Copy and paste this command: Net user administrator /active:yes
      and hit Enter key.
    3. Close the command prompt and sign out from the current user account.
    4. Login to the hidden admin account and then uncheck
Wake the computer to run this task option.
    5. Login back to the original user account and put the PC in sleep and check.
    6. If the issue is fixed then open command prompt in admin.
    7. Copy and paste this command: Net user administrator /active:no
and hit Enter key to disable the hidden admin account.

However, if you still unable to disable it then locate and the delete the
Universal Orchestrator task from this location C:/Windows/System32/Tasks/Microsoft/Windows/UpdateOrchestrator
and check if you still face the issue.

    We await your response.

  3. how to disable system task waking up the pc repeatedly?

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand the difficulties you are facing with the sudden wake of the PC repeatedly. Yes, you are right, the usoclient.exe file is associated and related to Windows Update. Although, we certainly don’t recommend this without
an apparent reason. If you still want to disable the file, then perform these methods.

Method 1: Disabling usoclient.exe from Group Policy Editor if you have Windows 10 Pro installed.

    1. Press Windows key + R to open up a
      Run command.
    2. Type “gpedit.msc” and hit
Enter to open the Local Group Policy Editor.
    3. In the Group Policy Editor window, navigate to
Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > UpdateOrchestrator using the left pane.
    4. Once you open the UpdateOrchestrator folder, move over to the center pane and select the
      Schedule Scan task.
    5. With the Schedule Scan selected, move over to the right pane and click on
      Disable (under selected item).
    6. Close the Local Group Policy Editor and reboot your computer. At the next restart, you should notice that theUsoClient.exe
But keep in mind that leaving this task disabled will not keep the
WU (Windows Update) component informed with the latest available updates.

Method 2: Disabling usoclient.exe using Registry Editor
if you have Windows 10 Home installed.

Registry disclaimer: Important this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry
incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

How to back up and restore the registry in Windows
    .

    1. Press Windows key + R to open up a Run window. Type “regedit” and hit
Enter to open up the Registry Editor.
    2. In Registry Editor, use the left pane navigate to
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Windows \ WindowsUpdate\ AU.
    3. With the AU
folder selected, move over to the right panel and right-click on a free space and chooseNew
      > Dword (32-bit) Value.
Then, rename the newly created value to NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers.
    4. Double-click on NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers and set it’s value to
      1.
    5. Close Registry Editor and reboot your computer. The CMD pop-ups caused by usoclient.exe should no longer be visible after the restart.

    We await your response.

how to disable system task waking up the pc repeatedly?

Thank you for your follow up, as I said I can't modify tasks on my account, reason why I can't disable the "Wake the computer to run this task" either.

Upon enabling the hidden admin account and deleting the Update Orchestrator task it turns out that the "UpdateOrchestrator Idle Start" Task gives the same problem, so I deleted both. However as soon as I come back on my account they are both regenerated
and scheduled to run right away, that is they''ll wake up the PC as soon as I standby.

I don't find anything to add but that it is as nasty as unbearable issue.
