Windows 10: Install error 1305 in appdata but file it says is missing IS there. Software provider says...

Hello,

I keep getting an install error 1305 when attempting to install a software package I bought today and downloaded online from the seller. I have a long history with the seller, a reputable company, so I do not suspect any foul play there. In asking them about this issue, they referred me to this site to get an answer as "this is a common problem with Windows 10", they say.











I am running as Administrator right from the get go and still no joy. I don't see how there can be any corruption of the file as I have tried re-installing the program several times now and each time Windows removes the Temp copy of the install files so a fresh one should be loading each time.


W10, all updates installed, MSi Laptop.


Any suggestions?

Error 1305

Keep getting this error message during install:

error 1305 error reading from file

Have windows 10, have tried many troubleshooting methods but none have helped. Error says to make sure that the file exists (and it does) and most solutions say to change the permissions of the file but error remains. Suggestions?

Error 1305: Error reading from file (followed by the filename) occurs when updating TurboTax.

Possible Causes

You're not logged in as an administrator.

An anti-virus, anti-malware, firewall, desktop search or backup program is interfering with Windows Installer.

One or more program files have been corrupted or otherwise modified, and the original installation package or media is not readable.

Solution

Restart your computer.

Log in as a computer administrator.

Exit all running programs, including virus-protection and firewall programs.

Remember to re-enable your security software after you've successfully installed or updated TurboTax.

Looks like you're either, not the admin(not likely) or a security application is blocking it.

Can you temporarily disable your AV and try again?

Error 1305

Not trying to install Windows, trying to install a game (Rise of Legends). During the install at the end of the 4th disk it gives the 1305 error saying that a video file cannot be found and to verify that it does exists. The file does exist.

I have tried installing this under a different user and made sure that they where also a system administrator.

I have made sure that the file was not hidden or protected and that all access to it was allowed.

I have made sure that all 4 disks are in good condition as well.

This is an older game and requires DirectX 9.0, Windows 10 uses DirectX 12.0 if I recall so this should not be a problem either. All other requirements are met.
