    No internet connection-Only some apps

Windows 10 on Lenovo AIO. All-in-one*really
    Comcast-Xfinity, Ethernet connection.
My client complained every morning his browser, Edge, when opened, got the no internet connection and he couldn't get his email.
However, when he restarted the PC, it was OK.
Asked him to start TeamViewer and give me "Your ID" He said a box with "No internet access came up"
    OK. Went to owner's.
Checked bottom right quickly. Saw the Network ID with "Internet Access".
Found all as he said, IE, Edge, TeamViewer, "No Internet Access"

HOWEVER, was able to access internet with Chrome which the owner never uses and didn't know it was on his PC.

I checked all the Start items and removed some that were questionable.
Ran Malwarebytes and found a number of PUPs
Ran Adware removal and found Slimware and Brighttag only. Common culprits.
Cleaned and restarted PC and all OK.
Was able to access all web apps.
Told owner to call if happened again.

Owner called this AM with same problem.
No Internet access except with Chrome
Walked him through Comcast Gateway, 10.0.0.1
    All looked OK.

    Pete

    :)

  3. Internet connectivity

Thank you for sharing more details. We would like to verify you are using the Windows Defender Firewall so we can isolate the issue. In some instances, the firewall is blocking the internet connection when using certain apps. At the same time, we also suggest
the following methods below for initial troubleshooting.

Step 1: Run the Windows App Troubleshooter. The troubleshooter can help identify
    and repair problems automatically.

Step 2: Modify the connection settings in the Internet Options.

    • In the Windows search bar, type Internet Options.
    • In the Internet Options window, go to the Connections
      tab.
    • Under the Proxy server section, untick the Use a proxy server for your LAN.
    • Click OK then Apply and OK
      again to save changes.
    • Launch the apps and check if you are able to connect to the internet.

After following these basic steps, let us know the outcome so we can give you additional help.

    Kind regards.

    Apps don't connect to Internet

    Hi Manuel,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused to you.

This usually occurs if you have connected to a proxy server or date and time is not set correctly according to your time zone. Let's try the following methods to fix this issue.

    Step 1: Check if the
proxy server is enabled. If yes, I would suggest that you disable it.

    Follow the given below steps:

    • Click the Gearbox (settings)
at the top right corner in Internet Explorer.
    • Click on Internet Options and select
      Connections tab.
    • Click on LAN settings and uncheck the box next to “proxy server for your LAN”.
    • Click OK to save and close the window.

Step 2: Check if the date, time and time zone are set according to your time and time zone.

The store app uses https instead of http which is used by other apps, so in order for the SSL handshake to proceed, the clock on the client and server needs to be correct.

Follow these steps to set the date and time:

    • Press Windows key and type “Date and Time” in the search bar.
    • Click Change date and time button (To change the time zone click on time zone tab).
    • Click Apply and OK to save the date and time.

Hope this will help you. Keep us posted with the status of the issue. We’ll be glad to assist if you need further assistance.

    Thank you.
