    Hi, All...
When using free software I always keep this "Quote" in mind.
“You can please some of the people all of the time,
you can please all of the people some of the time,
but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”
With that out of the way...
I'm in the early stages of doing a desktop upgrade.
(Waiting for all the hardware to arrive)
I decided to clone my old storage sata hard drive to a new 1TB SSD.
So I installed the latest version of "Macrium Reflect 7 Free Edition".
Tuned off Desktop connected SSD, turned on PC, went to Disc Management.
Got the Pop Up to allocate disc, so I did.
I started the clone process and got an error. I went back to Disc Management
and saw the SSD was gone.
I restarted my Desktop and went threw the entire above process again
    Got the same error, again.
I rebooted ounce more went to Disc Management.
Got the Pop Up to allocate disc, so I did.
But this time I place a video on the SSD and it played just fine. That told me the SSD was working fine.
So I down loaded the lasted version of "AOMEI Backupper Free Edition" and tried it.
AOMEI Backupper cloned the SSD on the first go round.
So if you are not getting the results your looking for when cloning, try cloning with AOMEI Backupper.
The good news is, if for some reason you don't get the results your looking for
it just costs you a few minutes of your time, You are not being charged to use it.
Worked like a champ for me... *Tongue*Wink*Smile
My Clone took 20 minutes, Connected SSD drive to motherboard with sata cable.
Copied 230 GB's from 512 GB sata hard drive to 1TB SSD.

Cloning from 1TB to 2TB hard drive

Whats a good free imaging/cloning program? I have a 1TB hard drive with Win7 and I want to seamlessly migrate my stuff to a 2TB hard drive. Any suggestions?

  3. Cloning from 1TB to 2TB hard drive

Hello, Migrating a 1TB Hard Drive to a 2TB HDD is very possible.

My Rig started out on just 160GB, when I upgraded HDDs, I cloned my 160 GB into a newly bought 500GB HDD. (it was an OS HDD)

Then on the next HDD upgrade(I bought a 1 TB) I cloned that 500GB to a 1 TB HDD.

    No problems at all.

From what I can remember the program I used was Acronis?? I forgot. But it ran the cloning process outside of windows. the cloning took like 30 to 1 hr. then I switched drive letters and the newly bought HDD is now my boot device.

cloneing a drive in windows 10

Hi,I have this question last year, but my os is windows 8.there are my steps of

How to clone drive in winodws

    ,you can check.hope that helps

First,I download a free tool of MiniTool partition wizard and launch it.

Step 1. Connect SSD to Windows 8. Install and launch MiniTool Partition Wizard Free Edition, select the source hard drive and then choose “Copy

Step 2. Select a disk to copy the source disk. Here you are expected to choose the SSD (we choose disk 3).

Note: All the data on SSD will be destroyed, so make sure you have done backup in advance. You are allowed to clone a hard drive to a smaller SSD, as long as it can hold all data in the source disk. You can also clone SSD to larger SSD by using MiniTool
    Partition Wizard Free Edition.

Step 3. Review the changes you are going to make and also change the copy options if necessary.

Step 4. MiniTool Partition Wizard will tell you how to boot from the destination hard drive. So if you are cloning boot drive to SSD, you need to pay attention.

Step 5. When you are lead to the main interface again, you can preview the changes you are going to make from the middle pane. (Here disk 3 has the same disk layout with disk 1.) If you confirm these
changes, you should click “Apply” to make the changes effective. Hope that helps
