Windows 10: Scanner won't work in Windows 10

Ok so you launched Windows 10 in July 2015 and virtually immediately people started saying they couldn't get their scanners to work. Looking through the previous discussions on this I found one from late 2018 and still the problem was going on.



Here we are in June 2019 and I recently moved over to Windows 10 and guess what my scanner won't work. Or at least it will once and then I have to turn it off and on again. I've read through and tried a few of the suggestions but nothing resolves the issue. How come you haven't fixed this yet?


If I took four years to resolve a problem at my place of work I'd be out of a job.


I've downloaded most up to date drivers, I've changed the compatibility mode but nothing works. I have multiple (lots and lots) items to scan in so I can't keep switching it on an off.


As most people have been saying the scanner worked fine before. I was using Windows seven and not one problem, bought the scanner/printer about two years ago plugged it in and it worked but now …………….


I know someone is going to come back with try this and try that but really what I want is Microsoft to get a grip and issue an update that resolves the problem.


Why do we as customers have to put up with this? If I bought a car/fridge/TV etc etc etc and it didn't work the company would replace or resolve the issue. The company not me and thousands of other people searching the internet for an answer.


Like most people I work hard for my money and don't appreciate having to waste my time on this kind of ………

Epson 1200 scanner now working! Very pleased.


Worked perfectly,

• Installed 2400 series driver (when it asked what model I had I also picked, 1270 and 4180 since these had the Slide scanner interface I thought it might add a few extra drivers)
• Restarted PC
• Needed to use Device manager 'Updated driver'
• Assign 2400 driver. (See attached image)
• Be sure scanner is powered on so it appears in device manager.

Tested the Slide scanner attachment, I used PRO mode and it was discovered.
I had to use the plastic blackout slide holder (for masking the slide) to find the slide though.

What flat bed scanners work under Windows 10?


At least with the Canon, I didn't come across any Windows 10 drivers, but that's reasonable to expect with such an old scanner. Did you really buy this one recently from Amazon?

My suggestion would be to just look in to any recent scanner and make sure it lists Windows 10 compatibility. Know what you are buying before you purchase.
