Windows 10: OneNote App is auto dimming

I have a Lenovo Yoga 720 running Windows 10 1803 and OneNote for Windows 10 (UWP) Version 16001.11727.20076.0


Whenever I maximize OneNote (or make it full screen) the laptop screen dims to 50%. This only happens when I am charging. It does not dim external screens, only the internal display.


Also it only dims as long as OneNote is the active window. If I switch to a different program on an external display then the laptop display will brighten, but as soon as I click something in OneNote it dims again. Windows does show it dims in the Display settings but it always drops back to 50% when I switch back to OneNote.


I would normally assume this is a Windows issue but it does not happen for any other programs, only OneNote, and only started happening recently.


Any help would be much appreciated.

It seems that the app may be corrupted. I suggest that you reset the OneNote app. You can do so through Settings:

• Click Start, and then Settings.
• Go to Apps, and then Apps & features.
• From the list of apps, select OneNote.
• Click on Advanced Options.
• Click on Reset.

If the issue persists, it might help to uninstall and reinstall the app.

• Click Start, and then Settings.
• Go to Apps, and then Apps & features.
• From the list of apps, select OneNote.
• Click Uninstall.
• Get the OneNote app from the Microsoft Store.

Let us know how it turns out.

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

• What are the troubleshooting steps you have performed to resolve the issue?
• What exactly happens when you try to open the app?
• Do you get any error message or error code on the screen?
• If yes, what exactly is the error message?

As of now, I suggest you to restart your Computer and try to open your OneNote . if issue still persists, I kindly suggest you to follow the steps mentioned by
Ruxo in the following thread which discusses about how to uninstall OneNote .
