  1. Problems regarding a recently built computer

Hi, recent owner of a newly built computer here. I've been tackling this issue I've been having with it for about a month now and I think I'm at my wit's end finally, so I want to see what people here should suggest what I should do.

To start things off, here's the specifications of my computer:
    Ryzen 3 1300 X CPU
Started with a Zotac Nvidia GTX 1050 Mini GPU, now currently a Gigabyte GTX 660 Windforce for diagnosis
    ASRock B450 Pro4 Motherboard
16 GB DDR4-3000 (2x8 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX in Dual Channel)
    Segate Barracuda 2TB HDD

SanDisk SSD PLUS 240 GB (Windows Drive, running Win10 Home, 64x v.1903)

Cooler Master MWE Gold 550W PSU

A quick note, the CPU and GPU were donated to me by a friend. Both have roughly 2 years of use on them. Both were working fine before he gave them to me.

My problems have consisted of the display cutting off and the system going unresponsive as a result. Had to force the computer to turn off in order to use it again. This cut off would occur at any point and time, whether I was running a program, doing work or even while the system was asleep (I'd wake up to it running with a blank display).

Upon troubleshooting, I found continuous messages about "display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has recovered" in the event viewer. I went and tried out a number of solutions afterwards, such as reinstalling drivers and windows, cleaning off the card and reapplying thermal paste to it, and even moved it to the second PCIe 16x slot on my motherboard. I then found a solution which was that my motherboard BIOS was out of date. One quick flash and the problem stopped.

From there, the card started cutting out again a week later. Event viewer didn't show anything unusual at all (not even a message about the driver going out) so I had to pick at and inspect every other part of my PC. Checked on RAM, inspected the integrity of my storage devices, ran diagnosis on other parts and so far I didn't turn up with anything at all. Next solution that I found was to just replace the GPU since the one I received was apparently faulty. I replaced the GPU then with another friend's old 660 (after removing previous drivers, of course). He's said the same thing where it worked fine before not being used. For a few days, I thought the issue was resolved and that I could use my system without error, but alas the same problems began to show up again. "display driver nvlddmkm" and corrupted system files now. I went to reinstall windows again to fix the corrupted files and also did a clean install of graphics drivers too to try and solve the driver problem. Needless to say but it didn't work.

Currently I cannot put my computer to sleep as it'll run into a bug and restart. Additionally, I get "bugcheck" errors in the event viewer now that I can't quite pinpoint to a cause other than something related to the graphics card and something else. Since I have a different card in here, I realize that the issue is probably software related and can be fixed with some knowhow.

This is from the most recent event where the display went out and caused my system to reboot:

"The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000116 (0xffffd08e22e4a010, 0xfffff8047d4e4534, 0x0000000000000000, 0x000000000000000d). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 8e4281ae-0cd0-42fa-b723-58de98d4d3db."

Looking in C:\Windows for a file called "MEMORY.DMP" shows that one does not exist, not unless I'm looking in the wrong location.

In addition, this most recent error is different from the last one, which was caused via error of the system not being able to properly wake up from sleep.

"The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000119 (0x0000000000000002, 0xffffffffc000000d, 0xffffc18188532960, 0xffff9b0af5cdf030). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000."

If anyone could please help me out with this, it'd be greatly appreciated. I can provide more details upon request.

    :)

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Problems regarding a recently built computer :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.
