  1. DLNA Media Servers and serving Cloud Files

Hello. Have never posted here before, and if my question is silly or obvious, I apologize, but have no expertise in many of these subjects.

I have an Aluratek Radio wifi device. It is capable of playing streaming media from a DLNA media server. I use it to play music from my computer streamed though my network. The Aluratek in my backyard is hooked up to a stereo, and I play music in the yard. Perfect for summer nights.

I also have music stored on OneDrive that I play through my Android Phone (using Cloudbeat) onto my car stereo.

I have wanted to make the OneDrive cloud music available to my Aluratek Device. I've added the OneDrive App client to my computer and I can now add the OneDrive App folder to the DLNA Server's library. But..what this appear to be doing to me a OneDrive virtual folder that is equal to a physical folder /users/OneDrive. It appears that updating the DLNA Server library is actually downloading the OneDrive music files into /users/OneDrive on my computer C: drive.

I see very little simple straightforward explanation for this.

Can I point the DLNA media server to OneDrive and stream from the cloud to my server?

Do I need the OneDrive Client App to do this?

Is it correct that it actually is just synching physical files on Onedrive to copies on my harddrive, and not actually a cloud stream?

    What am I missing here?

    :)

  2. Disto and software pack for DLNA File/Media server

I am looking for a good Linux Distro and software set for my File/media server supporting DLNA streaming to xbox360 and PS3. I also plan to combine it with my Usenet account as a TV PVR. I also have a TV tuner Hauppague 1850 I may stick in it.

I generally use Debain *buntu based distros but am open to alternatives that just effin work.

I plan to set it up as headless with remote access and web admin so suggestions and how to please.

    Specs:
expect about 4-8 HDDs so when suggesting include RAID or no-RAID with RAID Type Recommendation ( I expect 1/5/10) I dont generally like RAID but will use it if need be.

Windows Media Player - DLNA Server Issues

When did it start happening: After upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10. None of these problems existed when I was on Windows 7. I had a DLNA server setup when I was using Windows 7 too.

    Problem(s):

    • When viewing the list of available DLNA servers on my smart TV I am getting two identical DLNA servers. One works and the other simply states there are no media files available.
    • About once a month, Windows 10 will decide to shut off my DLNA server. That means I have to open up Windows Media Player, click Streaming, and Turn On...again.

I am sure number 2 is harder to resolve than number 1. Number 1 is probably just some registry entry that needs to be removed.

  4. DLNA Media Servers and serving Cloud Files

    Media/File Server on the cheap

    Hey guys,

My PC is currently filling up and i have 4 HDDs.

I use my PC as a media server as well as a gaming rig.

What I want/need to do is build an external enclosure/rig that is cheap money wise and effective as a file/media server that is DNLA compliant. It would be nice to be able to run my Usenet through it and control it via web interface and remote connect. I would use Linux if a step by step guide is available for setting up the DNLA server and such as well.

This is my first foray into this field of PCs. Help please! ^_^
