NAS connected directly to PC ethernet port not shown

I'm trying to upgrade my multiple NAS devices into a single enclosure. To be safe I'm copying all the files to an empty drive I temporarily installed in my PC. Although my wireless network adapter is rated at 100MBps, the POS router provided by my ISP can only do 7.8Mbps. Painfully slow.

I decided to connect the on NAS directly to my PC via the ethernet port in the hopes I copy the files before I die of old age. And in my family, that would be well in my my 90s.

Any way, my PC, running Windows 10, does not see the device. It's powered up and was running just fine before I moved it. Am I missing something? IS there a setting I didn't know about?

    Thank you.

    :)

  2. ethernet ports

That's not what a bridge does. It basically just connects the two ports and allows traffic to move through. ie you have another computer connected to each ethernet port, the bridge allows them to talk to eachother like they were directly connected. Quite some ADSL/cable modems act as bridges as well.

Ethernet doesn't have a valid ip address

OK, so I followed your suggestions and here are the mixed results:

    1. I disconnected the NAS drive from my PC's Ethernet port and connected it to the Ethernet port on the back of my router. Problem solved, NAS access granted again. I than unplugged the NAS from the back of the router and back to my PC's Ethernet port
and NO joy. So for now, I am running the NAS from the Ethernet port on the back of my router. My question; why has the Ethernet port all of sudden stopped working? I did go into device manager and checked the Ethernet port, it shows it as working properly.
I also disabled and re-enabled the port, but still no luck when connecting to the NAS.

    2. Office 365 and Outlook Calendar. Under the Outlook email address, there still is NO calendar showing up. The calendar that is showing up under that email address is called Archive [1], still. I did the quick and long fixes through the method you directed
and NO joy. What I don't get is why the system changed the word calendar to archive [1]? Also, why is there NO way to simply rename it, that would in essence fix it.

So, like I said at the start, mixed results, but definitely better now since I have gained access to my NAS and calendar, I just need to get the little things back in line, so I will be awaiting further instruction/suggestions.

    THANKS!

    Windows 10 & NAS Box

    Hi Peter,

A few possible reasons can cause this issue. To help us identify the cause of this problem, we would like to know the following information:

    • How is your NAS box connected to your computer? (Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or USB)
    • Are you using a program provided by the manufacturer of your NAS box to access it?
    • Do you receive any error messages when accessing your NAS box? If yes, what is the exact error message?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

In the meantime, we suggest that you perform the solution provided by omiklik (Most Helpful Reply)
