  1. No text display in shutdown script output since Windows 10 1903 upgrade

    Dear All,

I am using Windows 10 32bit Professional on my home PC. I have configured a shutdown batch script (.cmd) via group policies that checks whether a system backup is necessary and eventually executes it. Additionally I have configured group policies such that the output of this script is displayed in a console (command prompt) window while it executes.

Up to the Windows 1903 upgrade this worked completely fine but since the upgrade the script processing is still OK but the output displayed to the console window is missing. This means that the windows is still displayed on the shutdown screen but apart from the window title no text at all is shown. However, since new text lines are output by the script the cursor moves down. Additionally, when clicking on the options of the console window (box in the upper left corner), the options window is displayed but again I only see icons but no text at all.

I performed some further checks by executing task manager and notepad in my shutdown script and could confirm that also notepad shows the same behavior (i.e. no text at all) while task manager at least shows some text in the "Details" and "Services" tabs but also no menus and no text in the resources tab.

Any help and hints are much appreciated!

    Alf

    :)

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:
    • Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
    • Try different keyboard or mouse.
    • Restart computer, repeatedly.
    • Google for related issues.
    • Update Bios, because why not.
    • Create boot media and revert to windows 7.
The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.

script running on Startup and Shutdown of System is not working

I follows the steps given by Microsoft to run a script on startup and shutdown.

    -> What are these steps?

-> How do you invoke the Python script?
