    Hi everyone.


    I recently clone my Operating System WIndows 10 from my Hard drive to Samsung 970 Evo Plus m.2 NVME using Samsung Migration, however in disk management the new SSD is offline with the following notification "Disk offline because it has signature collision with another disk online".



    I really want to boot up the SSD to my laptop to have faster start up.



    How can I resolve this problem? Thanks in advance.

    Cloning and disk signature collisions


    I do both a clone of my C drive and an image backup.

    On a couple of occasions I have had to boot the newly cloned drive and forgot to remove the original source drive.

    This gives me Disk Signature collision which I think I understand.

    What I'd like to do is change the disk signature of the original source drive which is a GPT SSD.

    All the articles I've found on the net seem to suggest using diakpart which I have no problems using. Where I do have an issue is with determining how to provide a new disk signature.

    What is the format of the GUID GPT disk signature?

    How do I create a new disk signature? Is it just a string of random numbers?

    If diskpart doesn't like the format or the actual id how do I create one that diskpart will accept.

    Disk Signature Collision Problem


    Hi, on boot after normal night shutdown, win10 would not boot, got to Win10 icon then the intro music and just a grey screen.

    Using the Win 10 install disc, every recover option said after selecting the o/s, this repair option is not available. After trying numerous other fixes, I ran the EasyRE Boot repair utility which has rescued me before.

    That report there were "overlapping partitions on C drive" I ran the auto repair option which recovered boot ability - after running 2 re-boots (first one stalled). In the process some of my drives were re-lettered

    Using Windows Disk Manager I re-assigned the drive letters, but one drive with 2 partitions is reported as "offline" due to Disk Signature Collision Problem

    In Win 7 I would have run DiskPart to correct the uniqueid records

    This does not seem to be available in Win 10 and I cant find any forum or mention of how to correct a Disk Signature Collision Problem

    I would rather not loose the data on that drive.

    How can the partitions suddenly become overlapping after a normal shut down *Mad ?????
