Windows 10: After UPDATE 1903 - right click is not working on desktop to open *new* folder

I can rightclick on a folder in my desktop. I can rightclick on a tooldbar.


BUT when I rightclick on the desktop the entire screen blinks and comes back.


THere are many complaints about this problem with a google search. even on this board where one person claims microsoft fix this without any explanation as to how it was fixed.


Anyone who can figure this out...help greatly apreciated

The problem you've encountered in creating a folder could be caused by software or program conflict as the issue appeared a few days after installing the Windows 10 Creators update. For us to know if this only occurs when creating a new folder from the desktop,
we suggest that you try creating a new folder using a keyboard shortcut or from File Explorer. Please refer to the steps below:

Creating a new folder using a keyboard shortcut.

• Click on the desktop.
• Press CTRL + SHIFT + N.
• A new folder should be created.

Creating a new folder from File Explorer.

• Open File Explorer.
• Hover your mouse on the location where you want to create a new folder.
• Right-click it, go to New > Folder.

Unable to open a new folder by right clicking on the desktop.

HI i am using an all in on desktop computer, HP, (computer is 2 months old), windows 10, OS build-16299.19, happening only on desktop, ..... to open a new folder i usually am able to right click then click on new, then folder. at the moment when i try

to do this, i am able to right click and the pop up box appears, but as soon as i move my mouse over the *New* button the whole pop up box just dissapears, if i open a folder of some sort, lets say one with my documents or pictures in it, i am able to right

click in any of them to open a new folder. now i have done clean boot etc. have also been onto the phone to microsoft who actually fobbed it off to being a problem with my NEW computer! not sure the other thousands of people with this problem also have a new

computer and that that is the problem? (i have googled this problem and have come across thousands of other people with the same problem. OK now, this morning when i rebooted i though ok lets try this again, no, it didnt work, but.... i have found a work around

for this that works, it is not a fix, but it works, and will make it easy for people who have to open new folders etc constantly......... i have found that if i have any folder open, again lets say one with my photos or documents in it, even if it is minimised

to the taskbar, i am actually able to right click the desktop and create new folder! how about that lol like i said not a fix but helpful until microsoft fix this annoying problem. if you have a permenant fix please let me know. P:S i filled in as much information

as i could, also i am in Australia so didnt receive this until this morning it is just gone 8:05am Monday here. thanks in advance for any help with this this is the place i found a fix but it didnt last long but it worked for a little bit,

Create new folder on desktop when right click new does not work


Desktop computer with Windows10 Pro.
I already have one post going, but I need to create new folders on the desktop. When I right click on the desktop and click on new, it basically freezes up and eventually refreshes the desktop. I googled the problem and tried a couple suggestions, including messing with the registry (not a problem, but it did not work). I also tried widows restore for two attempts, but no luck. Any help will be appreciated. If there is another way to get new folders on the desktop, I would like to know how. Thanks
