Windows 10: itune diagnostic "Apple Mobile Device Driver not found."

I am on Windows 10.

I need iTunes to backup my iphone 7. I downloaded iTunes (microsoft store) but my iphone is not recognized. I ran the diagnostic and it is written "Apple Mobile Device Driver not found."

I went through all steps but nothing worked and the last step cannot be performed as the driver does not appear in Windows Device Manager.


I understand then that iTunes die not install correctly (I have tried uninstalling and reinstallating). I am admin of ny PC, ...


Is it possible to download manually the driver and install it ?

Or how should I install iTunes correctly so that the diagnostics is ok ?

I can't even get through step one of your recommended path. I have no "Apple Mobile Device entry in Device Manager". That gets "wiped out" every time iTunes gets reloaded, per my last note. After reloading drivers,
it says "Your previous Itunes installation must be removed before continuing. Would you like to remove it now? Your iTunes library and settings will not be removed. Yes or Quit." So upon selecting "Yes,"
my PC uninstalls the previous iTunes software and reloads iTunes again. BUT, in doing so, it wipes out Apple Mobile Device Service again. I need to find a way to get the Apple Mobile Device software to run and
install the drivers in such a way that it does get wiped out after the PC forces me to reload iTunes.

Hi, thank for the reply, but I am still stuck with an inability for my Win 10 PC to recognize my Iphone. I already did the steps highlighted in the first Apple Support article, and changing cables and drivers. Please read these specific actions/symptoms:

I noticed Apple Mobile Device USB Drivers are missing. So I tried to reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Support which drops the files in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\. After installation is complete and hitting "finish," and
reconnecting my phone to the PC via proper Apple USB cable, my phone still does not appear in Explorer. NOR does "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" appear under the Device Manager/ Universal Serial Bus controllers, as it does with my other working PC after
connecting this same phone via the same cable (i.e., this rules out a phone problem or a cable problem).

Interestingly, when I try to manually launch iTunes after reinstalling the Apple Mobile Device Support software, it says "Your previous Itunes installation must be removed before continuing. Would you like to remove it now? Your iTunes library and settings

Apple Mobile Device USB Driver

I need help with getting my laptop, running Windows 10 to recognize my IPod Classic 160gb. It will recognize my IPad through Bluetooth but ITunes won't recognize my IPod Classic (with no Bluetooth, of course!). So far I have done the following:

1. Restarted everything;

2. Removed ITunes and reinstalled it several times;

3. Updated Windows 10 to the latest updates;

4. Called Apple support who advises that it's a Windows issue and I need "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" on my laptop.

How do I get Apple Mobile Devise USB Driver on my laptop?! Help?!
