  1. Wireless Network Adapter Constantly Needing to Be Reset AFTER Windows 10 Update

So I'm running a Dell Inspiron 15 3000 Series Laptop ( a 3558 to be exact) with an Intel(r) dual band wireless-ac 3160 card. On the Windows 10 update before this most recent one in August, my wifi goes out at random on JUST this laptop and needs the troubleshooter to reset the wifi network. This seems to correlate with the speakers/audio earbud jack that crackles and sometimes gets hung up to the point of the blue screen of "Your PC Has Run Into a Problem" with the Kernel Mode Heap Corruption as the given error.

I've updated ALL the drivers. I've updated the BIOS. I've run virus scan after virus scan and come away with nothing. I've disabled Ethernet because A, I never use Ethernet and B, it's not even possible, but the troubleshooter often blames it on said ethernet before repairing/resetting the wireless adapter. I've set the laptop back to an earlier restore point. The only thing I HAVEN'T done so far is take out the battery and just let the thing run on the cord because I don't take it out, I just use it for work.

When I tried to update the Intel driver this morning, it found something, but then stalled out and told me nothing could be done. Seems odd to me. I've gone back and forth with Microsoft Support through Twitter DMs and they can't tell me anything other than to run the thing in Safe Mode, which....it can be hours, days, or a week before the wifi decides to go out again. It's not a helpful means of figuring out what's going on and then they have the audacity to message me and ask if my issue has been resolved when I keep telling them NO, nothing's been resolved and they're already celebrating.

But I'm PRETTY SURE that Windows 10 bricked my laptop and I can't afford to fix it. So I'm hoping to find some answers here because unless multi-BILLION dollar company Microsoft wants to spot the $400 and some change for a new laptop, I'm pretty sure I'm in trouble. I haven't even installed the new August 2019 update yet because quite frankly? I'm scared to.

    :)

Constantly need to reset wireless network adapter

    Hi Debbie,

You might be experiencing this issue because of a configuration error or outdated device driver. Installing the latest driver for your device is usually the best policy because it has all the latest fixes.
If you’re having problems with your Wi-Fi connection and you think it’s not

    something in your home
, make sure you have the latest driver installed for your wireless network adapter.
To check for the latest drivers, kindly refer to the following link:
    Update drivers in Windows 10
    .

If a new driver isn't found, check the device manufacturer’s website for the latest driver, download it, and then install it manually. To learn how to do this, see

    Fix network connection issues
    .

Additionally, kindly check the Power Management tab in the Network Adapter properties in Device Manager if the option
Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power is enabled. Here are the detailed steps:

    • Press Windows key + X key, and select Device Manager.
(You may also right-click on the Start menu.)

    • Find and double-click Network adapters.

    • Right-click the device listed, and click on
      Properties.
    • Navigate to Power Management tab, and uncheck the option
Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

You might also be experiencing this issue due to a hardware problem. If the laptop is still in warranty, we recommend that you reach out to

    HP Customer Support
    or
    HP Discussion Boards
    for hardware-related support.

If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to post a reply.
