    Hello,

I've been having this very frustrating problem on a new Dell Inspirion Windows 10 PC Desktop.

The computer itself works fine but the sound doesn't when I plug in headphones.

I don't have any proper PC speakers yet as it didn't come with any but that's fair enough. I have a external Bluetooth Speaker I have been using while i've been having this issue but there are certain parts where I need to use headphones for example, at night or when I am recording music.

Whenever I plug in headphones the Realtek audio disconnects itself. It says "No Output Device Connected"

I can't play any sound mp3 flac wav or anything during this time as the computer thinks the sound is disconnected then sometimes if I wait it just resets itself and goes back to normal. Realtek has been crashing and causing me alot of issues after the latest Windows 10 update and my audio was working perfectly fine before.

I have tried reinstalling and updating the drivers without success. Also have done troubleshooter and that gave me no help. Its like i have to reset the audio device every time I put headphones in but I shouldn't so something must be wrong.

However, as mentioned before external speakers play fine without issues, but there are certain times where I NEED to use headphones. They should just plug in and play without my computer to lose Realtek Audio all the time I don't know why they should disconnect every single time I plug headphones in.

If anyone has any solutions or answers about my problem it would be much appreciated. I have looked up this info and haven't really found anything helpful.

    Thanks.

    :)

  3. Realtek Audio Headphone Jack Issue

The SONY: SRS-X2 listed is a Bluetooth speaker that I have been using in place of the laptop speakers, which generally works fine. I think it's also worth it to note that the Speakers listed here don't change when I actually plug headphones into the laptop.

The Realtek software installed is listed as Realtek High Definition Audio Driver, from Realtek Semiconductor Corp. 6.0.1.7548, installed 10/29/2017.

The problem is that audio is no longer coming out of the laptop speakers. Previously, whenever headphones were plugged into or taken out of the jack on the laptop, Realtek would send a notification saying that something had been plugged in or out. However,
I have not gotten either of those messages since the problem with the speakers started, so it was my assumption that the laptop simply believes that there is something still plugged into the headphone jack that has never been taken out.

The headphones that I use work perfectly fine, and I can get audio from the laptop if I just plug headphones it, however I don't get the notification that I used to.

I followed all the instructions on the Windows 10 checklist, and I did the Fresh Start that was walked through on the other website, however none of this fixed the issue.

On an additional note, downloading the Realtek software listed on the Lenovo site did actually help by fixing a separate issue I was having with my Bluetooth, so I do want to thank you for that as I now have a workable alternative to the laptop speakers
if it turns out that there's just nothing to fix them.

Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version [2]

I just built a new rig with a ASRock X470 Taichi motherboard and Win 10 64bit 1903. I downloaded the driver from my motherboard's site (Realtek high definition audio driver ver:8668_UAD_WHQL_DTS) and then ran the powershell script to detect the driver type.

Since I couldn't get more than 1 output, I also tried the latest driver in the 1st post (HDA DRIVER VERSION: 6.0.8716.1).

No matter what is plugged in, I only have 1 playback/output device.

    • I plug my speakers into rear panel = audio plays out the speakers and listed as Speakers (Realtek Audio)
    • I plug my headphones into front panel = audio plays out my headphones and listed as Speakers (Realtek Audio)
    • I plug my headphones into front panel and speakers into rear panel = audio plays out of front panel and listed as Speakers (Realtek Audio)

I used to be able to switch between front and rear when both were plugged in. Anyone have any suggestions?
