  1. Got Virus -- can't troubleshoot, back-up, or restore.

I fell prey to the scam when my Dell laptop started beeping and saying someone had hacked me. I called the number, and stupid me, I let him have access to my system. It was already acting screwy (About a month ago), and I remember telling him I had downloaded an Adobe Flash Reader, and I had noticed some program named Segurasso, or Seragasso, or something like that, masquerading as my McAfee and popping up suggesting scans of my drive. I fell for that too. Eventually, I tried to troubleshoot my issues, but was informed there was some error. Trying to back up my files, in a recovery disk kind of way, I also ran into problems. Today, I was so frustrated with the delays that I was ready to format and start over again. I tried the reset first, hoping to keep my own files. Suddenly my laptop couldn't find the restore partition on the hard drive, and asked me for a start-up disk. I've actually restored the system before using that method. So Now I'm in a pickle. I have no recovery disk. I have no Windows CD. The Windows 10 I have installed needs to be wiped and reinstalled. I watch Task Manager And SysGauge, showing my Disk at 100% usage, but nothing using it, My Memory at 85% usage with very little using any of it, and my CPU doing absolutely nothing while reporting a very busy day. Some of my tasks have 2700 threads. Basically, I keep bouncing $1 checks when I know I have $1,000 in the bank. There's nothing going on, but I can't load a program.

So, how can I get my computer to see and use the restore partition on my HD?

Windows updates have always been a problem for this system. It will check and download updates, and install them. But it gets to around 95% done, and it just freezes, leaving my forced into airplane mode. Since I've had it, I've had to restore default drivers everytime it's tried to upgrade. Any advice on that too?

Also, in the last month, My wifi seems to just stop working for a few days each week.
I can connect to my router using ethernet, but there's no wifi. Then it will suddenly
start working again. Never on the same schedule. Really strange. : ( Any advice on that?

Thank you so much for your time and efforts. I can't wait to get these situations behind me.

    : )

  2. Windows 10 infinite restart black screen

The tutorials provided are just a list of troubleshooting steps. Use only the steps which apply to you.

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.

Restoring Windows 10 Image using Macrium Reflect

In addition to the above. Here's my suggestion in step by step.
I assume you have Macrium Installed in your current HD and already made a backup copy.
    1. Connect your new HD via USB port and boot up.
    2. Run Macrium, click on Restore tab then select the Backup Image that you made to restore
    3. click on "select a different target disk" then select your new HD as destination

    4. Proceed to restore then Shutdown and disconnect the old HD and replace with the new HD
    5. Boot up with your new HD.
