  1. Can't edit file permissions even though my profile is an administrator and the only profile...

I've been having lots of problems with Windows Update in the past month or so. I haven't been able to update my system. Eventually I found this thread, and component corruption seems like a fairly plausible cause for the errors I keep getting (0x8e5e03fa). Problem is, the suggested fix (not the troubleshooter, it's worthless) involves editing System32 files (for the sake of making a backup) which Microsoft has wisely locked down pretty hard. As I said in the subject, I have no idea how I would remedy that. I can edit the permissions for standard users but not for administrators, despite being the administrator myself, this being my home PC. Would changing the permissions for standard users affect my profile as an admin? I'd rather not change those for obvious security reasons, but if that's what I have to do I suppose I can just change them right back.

    :)

    Sharing files between profiles

After a whole day struggling with a damaged profile, I have no choice but to create a new one and miragate all my files and settings over. At the moment I can't access the folders in my old profile I'm getting an error message that says 'you don't currently have permissions to access this folder' I've set it to share in my old profile, tried numerous tutorials online but no joy. Any suggestions?

    Lost all Administrator permission

    Hello,

I have lost all my administrator permission. I have two profiles but both profiles are standard. I have tried every option that were listed on existing forums. Every option leads me to a pop-up screen stating I have no permission. Are there any other recommendations?
