can an external monitor and/or keyboard be causing BSODs?

    Hello,

I've been plagued by regular though infrequent BSODs for some time. I use a Lenovo P71 computer running Windows 10. This situation has existed practically from the moment I acquired the machine. I've been using the computer with an external monitor and keyboard. However, some time ago I had to have the monitor serviced, and I used the computer without the external monitor (and keyboard); i.e. I used the internal screen and keyboard. To my surprise the computer worked for about two months without a single BSOD. When I resumed using the external monitor it took only a few days for a BSOD to occur.

Therefore I am posing the question in the Subject line. Any answer would be appreciated. I am including a link to the data on the latest BSOD.

    Regards,

can an external monitor and/or keyboard be causing BSODs?

    External Monitor with Quicken

    Hi Mark,

It is possible that the display resolution automatically adjusts after connecting to an external monitor. For us to properly isolate this issue, we have some questions for you:

    • Are you experiencing the same issue even without using the Quicken tool?
    • Have you checked if the display resolution settings of the Surface device and the external monitor is the same?
    • Have you tried checking for a graphics device driver update?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done to isolate the issue?

We're looking forward to your response.
