Windows 10: Last two Windows 10 updates cause my Input Indicator to disappear from the taskbar

It still appears perfectly fine on the lock-screen, but when I log in, it doesn't appear in my taskbar. Uninstalling all languages, restarting, and adding them back in seems to fix it, but as far as I can tell, the instant I add Chinese back in it breaks again. Once Chinese is installed, it doesn't appear in the Input Indicator, and any languages or inputs I add after it don't show up either. After a restart, the Input Indicator vanishes again.


It seems like when Windows 10 updates with Chinese installed it breaks the Input Indicator. That or the recent updates have broken Chinese input. I'm learning Chinese and Japanese, and plan on soon learning Spanish, so I use these inputs a lot and not being able to use them is very annoying.


I have already managed to restore back to the update which previously worked (which was installed on 9/15/2019), but it's kind of irritating that I can't install the updates. I should also note that I have tried using the language bar instead, but it also doesn't work in similar ways.


How do I fix this?

Windows 10 Input Indicator icon on taskbar

When the computer starts the Input Indicator icon displays "ENG" alongside the clock in the taskbar.

I use Settings\System\Notifications & Actions\Turn system icons on or off and change the setting for Input Indicator to "Off".

This works fine as the "ENG" icon disappears. However when the computer is restarted after being shut down the "ENG" icon re-appears. It seems that this setting is just temporary and reverts to "On" when shut down.

How do I make the Input Indicator setting remain "Off"?

 

Input indicator no longer appears in the taskbar

I've lost the language input indicator in the taskbar. Alt-Shift no longer works when switching languages.

I am running Windows 10 Version 1809 (OS Build 17763.437).

The language indicator with the keyboards I've installed still appears on the lock screen, just not in the taskbar.

In the taskbar settings, "Turn system icons on or off", the "Input Indicator" setting is set to "On".

Turning it off and on again doesn't work.

Locking and unlocking the taskbar doesn't work.

Running ctfmon.exe doesn't seem to do anything.

It feels like this issue appeared after the last Windows update. Please help!

 

Battery indicator disappeared from taskbar

The battery indicator disappeared from the taskbar after the last Win 10 update (version 1511). I tried the flwg:

"Press and hold or right-click an empty area on the taskbar, and then tap or click Properties. Under the
Taskbar tab, under Notification Area, click Customize... Tap or click
Turn system icons on or off. Under Behaviors, tap or click On in the drop-down list next to Power, and then tap or click OK."

The problem is "Power" appears to be "off" and cannot be switched to "on." The on/off switch just does not work. (All the others work with the exception of "location".)

Any suggestions for a solution to this issue?
