HyperV vs VMware. Different user account running in virtual OS.

New to virtualization. Need to work in a fully functional Linux OS.

    1. I read that the preinstalled HyperV in my W10 can run only limited functionality Linux distros. Does VMware allow full-blown Linux experience?

    2. Is it possible to run only a virtual OS as a standard user? I mean when I'm using my admin account I'm working in Windows but when I am switching to another user I am immediately in that virtual OS.

    3. Does having two systems impact the general PC performance in any way? I mean, except the resources that a virtual machine is using, does that component make the PC (disks, registry, RAM..) "less stable"?

    :)

How to display different virtual desktops on different monitors

I would suggest the most useful get-around is to run VMware virtual machine and use the power of a wider desktop to run the VMware (or HyperV etc) on the 2nd monitor. You can then run the VMware software in 'unity mode' which allows you to work directly
in the application window (the one inside the VM); this is better than having to Alt + Tab to the VM environment guest and select the app window you want inside that. It's great, and Windows / VMware is a good solution. (I don't know HyperV which I believe
has similar functionality). Just make sure you have plenty of memory, as a 64 bit VMware guest VM OS will use similar RAM as a your 'host' machine.

HyperV vs VMware. Different user account running in virtual OS.

Is Phenom II x4 capable of running 64bit VMware virtual machine ?

This is true if you are running a 32-bit guest os, however even with VMWare, virtualization is required to run a 64-bit guest os.

Trust me, I've tried getting VMWare to run a 64-bit guest OS without virtualization, it just won't do it. I fought the exact same problem on my Pentium D 830. The processor is 64-bit, the OS is 64-bit(Win7 Pro x64), but VMWare simply would not run a 64-bit guest OS.

Here is a VMware KB article for diagnosing this problem: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/mi...nguage=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1006190
Notice step 2 is to make sure Virtualization is enabled.
