Windows 10 - Windows Security Corrupted (PC was infected with BitCoinMiner Malware)

    Hi,

My PC has always been protected by Avast Anti Virus and updates its virus definition automatically.

One fine day I realized the icon was missing from the task bar and the anti virus was unable to launch. Quickly installed another Anti Virus - AVG Anti Virus and discovered that my PC was infected with Malware. Removed it successfully and ran the Microsoft Safety Scanner and discovered more Malware.

My PC is cleaned now. However, my Windows Security (under Updates & Security) looks corrupted.

Managed to use DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and SFC / scannow to restore the corrupted files, but Windows Security still looks blank.

Is there any way I can restore Windows Security without reinstalling Windows or using the Reset this PC option?

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

I was hoping someone could give me a list of step by step instructions you use as a guide to clean virus, malware...etc. so I can keep my PC clean if it gets infected.

    Windows 10 malware

This morning, came to my PC, to see that (sneakily in last Win 8.1 updates) there was some "Get Windows 10" malware app, updating and rebooting and reconfiguring my PC through multiple reboots. It was at a critical time of my working morning and I couldnt get to my PC.
