Windows 10: Windows 10 Pro activation issues

Should we try and figure out whats going with why we cannot get our pro upgrade license key, or should we just say, bump it, and buy pro ouright?


The issue is below:


Just got off the phone with support, I don't think the lady understood the issue correctly.


I own a small business, we purchased several computers from best buy, then bought Win 10 Pro upgrades online.


One of the laptops was damaged (HD failed randomly), sent in on warranty, and they sent us a whole new computer back.


The email we got when purchasing, does not contain the activation key, instead it has a "Go to order details button"


The order number LOOKS similar to an activation key but its not.


Click on details button, we can see details in the Microsoft account page. Upon clicking on the "One Store" Icon like we did before to activate it to the machine. We instead get taken to a

The caveat here is this:

The computer the pro upgrade will be going on does not have a license associated with it currently.

IF we can transfer pro to the new machine, we will purchase Home edition, then install our pro upgrade.

IF not, then we will purchase Pro outright, as buying both separate is more cost.


The tech support lady said in order to do this she would have to remote into the machine and enter the key manually. Our network is absolutely forbidden to have remote connections established due to the sort of work they do.

Windows 10 pro

I need to change my motherboard, have windows 10 pro. When i google how to it says go to activation then add an account, my issue is there is no add an account option under activation? Or am I in the wrong window?



Not sure how to proceed, ive googled it and the same results. Do I have an OEM or? On the disk sleave it says OEI DVD?
