  1. Upgraded machine from Win7 Pro to Win10 Pro and image backup, on restore our application...

    Hi,

    Using Paragon HD Manager for image backup/restores (version 16) and noticed something very odd other day.

    We restore/backup images constantly when switching between app versions for testing

    Scenario:

    Windows 7 pro upgraded on system to Windows 10 Pro

    Applications shows in Apps (5 total) and application works (machine builds cameras for auto industry)

    Backup new update

    Restore Windows 7 and do testing on a new version of application(s) - works as before

    Restore Windows 10 and go to run application and says "Class not registered" when running the Exe, running shortcut says "Missing Parameters
    "

    Other apps in application folder run.
    When I look in Apps the 5 applications are not listed

    I can re-install and run the application as before the backup.

    I saw nothing about incompatibility after the upgrade. Also, I did not run the option to check this from commandline of the setup tool or whatever tool could be run for this.

    What is Windows 10 doing here?

    :)

  2. Win7 Pro (OEM) to Win10

    Just tried to use the MS 'Media Creation Tool' to download an .iso of Win10 Pro 64-bit - the only OS offered in the dropdown box is Win10 Home!

    Currently running Win7 Pro (OEM) on my last machine to be upgraded. I haven't yet done the automatic 'upgrade' to Win10. Of course, I know I need to do this before doing a clean install with a downloaded .iso. Is this the reason for no choice of the Pro
    version?

    If first I do the free upgrade from Win7 Pro (OEM) to Win10...

    a) Will the upgraded OS show as Win10 Pro (OEM)?
    and;

    b) If I then run the 'Media Creation Tool', will I then be offered a choice of Win10 Home or Win10 Pro in the drop-down?

    It was always my understanding that Win7 Pro (OEM) was entitled to a free upgrade to Win10 Pro (OEM)...

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks,

    Henry

  3. Win7 Pro Upgrade 32 to Win10 Pro 64

    Hello,

    I have a PC which originally had Win Vista Business 32-bit, upgraded to Win7 Professional 32-bit, then did a clean install to Win10 Pro 64-bit using the installation media provided on Microsoft's website. I was unable to use my 32-bit keys to activate Win10
    Pro 64-bit. After some research, it seems I needed to upgrade from Win7 Professional 32-bit to Win10 Pro 32-bit using Windows Update or installation media, then take that key and write it down and use it later when I do a clean install of Win10 Pro 64-bit.

    Before the clean install I used a program to find my product key for Win7 Pro 32-bit and wrote it down. If I wanted Win10 Pro 64-bit it seems I'd have to do another clean install of Win7 Pro 32, upgrade to Win10 Pro 32, then clean install Win10 Pro 64. Instead
    of doing this time consuming task, is there some way I can get a key from Microsoft for Win10 Pro 64 bit, provided I have proof of my keys? The PC is currently running Win10 Pro 64-bit and is not activated.

    Thanks

  4. Upgraded machine from Win7 Pro to Win10 Pro and image backup, on restore our application...

    Win7 Home to Win10 Pro?

    I'm running Win7 Home, but would like to upgrade to Win10 Pro; according to the upgrade paths, this won't be a free upgrade (obviously), but I haven't been able to find any info about pricing for this. Can anyone shed any light on the logistics/cost of
    a Win7 Home -> Win10 Pro upgrade?
