  2. How to access appdata folder

    Hi Jaden,

Thank you posting your query in Microsoft Community.

We would be glad to help you with the issue you are facing today. I understand the difficulty with the problem.

I would suggest you to follow the below steps.

    • Write in the search box the following: “%appdata%” .
    • After the search is finished left click or tap on the folder that the search feature found.
    • If it takes you to the following path: “C:\Users\The user that you are logged in with\AppData\Roaming”.
    • It means that your folders are still there but they are hidden.
    • Click on “View”.
    • Check the box “Hidden items”
Also you refer to the below link.

  3. Cannot Unpin from Quick Access Since Microsoft Switched Local Documents and Pictures to OneDrive Folders

    Hi Nathan,

This issue may have occurred due to some system conflict after the updates on your PC. To resolve this, we suggest that you reset the Quick Access folder. To do this, follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows key + R then copy and paste the file location:

      %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations
    • Select all files showing and delete it.
Let us know if you have other concerns that we can assist you with.

Can't access appdata\local folders except "microsoft" since updating to 1903

    Access to Local AppData

    In short,

I've developed an office add in that uses Local AppData folder to log (using Log4net) as well as produce dynamic dlls. Last year August I had our first incident of a user not being able to write to the AppData location. It seems to be an Access Denied issue.
I thought it was possibly a configuration issue by the systems admin, however, this has now happened at 4 other clients.

The Windows build is 1709. All 4 clients have confirmed Windows Defender and Bitlocker was turned off. They all run different Anti-Virus. They are all domains as these are corporate clients.

I would like to know if any change has been made to UAC with regards to Local AppData in a windows update. The closest information that I could find is that Windows Defender has a new feature that was released called "Controlled Folder Access" which could
possibly be a cause. It is proving difficult to get access to our clients infrastructure (it is in financial services and thus would be problematic) and without being able to reproduce the issue it is impossible to fix.
