Windows 10: Edge hangs on opening (multiple computers)

We've installed a bunch of computers this week with 1903 downloaded from MS. Everything has gone fine, but today we noticed that Edge won't open on any of them. It just hangs once it opens with a white page.


I've tried:

• Updating Windows
• Repairing Edge
• Resetting Edge
• Clearing all temp files (using Ccleaner)

Then I went to Powershell and tried: Get-AppxPackage -allusers | foreach {Add-AppxPackage -register "$($_.InstallLocation)\appxmanifest.xml" -DisableDevelopmentMode}


This told me: Add-AppxPackage : Cannot find path 'C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_44.18362.1.0_neutral__8wekyb3d8bbwe\appxmanifest.xml' because it does not exist.


So to me it looks like I'm missing the manifest for edge, I personally don't know if there is a way to replace it or if I going down the wrong path?


Anyone got any ideas?

Can't open Outlook links in Edge

Hi,

• Dose this problem occur on a particular website or all the links you try to open from Outlook?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done?

In the meantime, we suggest that you reset Microsoft Edge. Kindly refer to the steps below:

• Open Microsoft Edge.
• Click on More options […].
• Click on Settings.
• Click on ‘Choose what to clear’.
• Select all of them and click on Clear all.

Microsoft Edge Hanging/Not responding

Hi Andy,

Let's try to isolate the cause of this issue, we suggest that you clear your browsing data. Kindly follow the steps below:

• Open Edge.
• Click on the three dots icon on the upper-right part of the screen.
• Click Settings.
• Under Clear browsing data, click on Choose what to clear.
• Click on Clear.

If the issue persists, we suggest that you disable hardware acceleration and use software rendering.
Here are the steps on how to enable software rendering:

• Click Start.
• On the search bar, type Internet Options, and click on
  Internet Options from the results.
• Click on the Advanced tab.
• Under Accelerated graphics, check Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering.
• Restart your computer.

Edge Search Does Not Permit Change of Region


I got these suggestions from the Microsoft Community forum.No. 1 worked for me:

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. I am glad to assist you on this.
We have reproduce the issue here and we are able to access non-regional search for google using Microsoft Edge.
I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.
Step 1:
Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

Step 2:
I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
3. Select add someone else on this PC.
4. Enter a user name and hit next.
5. Click on Finish.
6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

Step 3:
It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.
