Windows 10: How do I turn the touchpad off(and/or on), on a HP laptop(15-db0015dx), using Windows 10?

The subject(above)pretty much says what I'm trying to find out. I've had laptops in the past where the touchpads could be disabled/enabled by the fn + f9 keys on the keyboard. I've tried that. I've done research, and tried lots of different suggestions. I don't use it. I don't need it. I don't want it. It causes so many problems for me when I type, that I've made a physical barrier, a cover plate that covers the touchpad, so as to prevent any contact. It works, but it's awkward. I should be able to turn the touchpad on, and/or off whenever I want. I bought this HP laptop 15-db0015dx, new, on 05/30/19. Windows 10 has been on it from the beginning. I hope you can give me a way to disable/enable this touchpad, so I can get rid of this cover guard. I thank you for your time, and whatever assistance you might might provide. Respectfully, Gregg E. HP Stream 11 under Windows 10 - Touchpad not recognized.

Are you making sure you are trying the correct driver for the WiFi... They list Broadcom, Intel, and/or Realtek.

Also, try to run the installer as an administrator install.

If that fails... try extracting the files and manually install the driver.

 

I want to disable touchpad on Dell laptop


Hello everyone,
My laptop's touchpad works and I don't want it to, because I prefer a mouse. It's a Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series on windows 10 OS.

What I have tried that hasn't worked:

• start<settings<devices<mouse & touchpad<additional mouse options. This opens a window called Mouse Options which has 5 tabs up top, none of which involve the touchpad. The Hardware tab shows 2 devices: the mouse itself, and the USB. No touchpad there.
• windows key+x<mobility center. No touchpad to be found.
• various function keys. No options for touchpad on/off.
• device manager<mice and other pointing devices. Again, only the mouse and usb show up. It appears the touchpad is working without a driver, which is a little spooky.

Any other suggestions? I could try downloading a third party driver, but that seems like a step in the wrong direction.
