Windows 10 is stuck as the desktop starts to open

    Hi,

First of all forgive my poor English as it's not my mother tongue... Windows 10 is stuck as the desktop starts to open :)

After "1903 update" failed many times I've installed it trough the "manual installation update".

Since I've not been able to restart Win10 pro.

I can log into my user's login but the desktop won't load and neither respond to any command.

So from another Win 10 PC I've generated a bootable usb-key from the MediaCreationTool1903, in order to make a restoration or a repair.

I've tried many offered solutions (repair, downgrade...) but as I don't have access to the settings and no "combo keys" are effective.

Then I've decided to make a fresh install of win10 using the bootable key, and keeping all my data.

The installation process stops and displays :

"Compatibility Report. The upgrade option isn't available if you start your computer using installation media. If a copy of Windows is already installed on this computer and you want to upgrade, remove the installation media and restart your computer. After Windows has started normally, insert the installation media and run Windows Setup."

Can you please help me to troubleshoot this insane loop.

If I have a way to reinstall the windows core system I'm sure I can get out of it.

    Thank you !

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

    • Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
    • Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
    • Click on Users, select your User name
    • Go to desktop folder
Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.

windows update stuck at installation screen and cannot get to desktop

    Hi Sue,

To understand the issue better, I would like to ask some questions:

    • Is the computer stuck in the Installing updates screen?
    • For how long is the computer stuck in the screen?
    • When was the computer last updated?
    • Is the screen showing any percentage of installation?

Sometimes the installation might take a long time to install if the update is of large size. So, I suggest you to wait for sometime and check if the system boots to the desktop. If it is taking a longer time, then perform a Power Drain by following the steps
    provided below:

    • Shut down the Computer.
    • Remove all power source (including battery if it is a laptop).
    • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
    • Connect the power source and start the computer.
    • After the computer boots to the desktop, suggest you to install all the pending updates.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted on the status for further assistance.

    Thank you.
